Hi Bet,
Sorry this is a way overdue response to your question. I had my Gall Bladder removed in 1998 after two epsiodes of Ascending Cholangitis (1987 & 1998) where I was very sick and in the end the doctors felt that to remove my GB may be the way to go.
The CT Cholangiogram I had done in 1998 was read incorrectly by the radiologist (or whoever) and the report came back that I had a 'large boulder' in the GB. So I had laparoscopic removal, but no boulder (large stone) was found. On reviewing the pictures after the surgery, they concluded that what he saw was a fluid level & misread it.
It's now 8 years since I had the GB removed and have had no problem in that area - so time will tell.
My mother also had her GB removed, so maybe the "fair, fat (marginal), fertile (not) and forty" saying is correct.
Bet have they actually visualised the gallstones? Diseased/unhealthy gallbladders can also cause problems.
