re: re: Gallstones and HRT May. 27th, 2006 10:06am
Hello Rosalie,
Sorry my reply is also late, so not to worry. I had an ultra sound and was told that i had four 1 cm gallstones and probably other smaller ones. I have read that people who have HRT are more likely to get gallstones. I have been on the pill for 10 years, but not anymore, as part of CAH treatment. I think the pill may be a big factor in getting gallstones. Im not an over weight person. I admit that i should exercise more, but I dont have a bad diet. The ultrasound didn't show a diseased gallbladder, just gallstones. I dont have any great problems just occassional discomfort. I have read about a gallbladder flush to attempt to rid the stones. I tried it once but found it difficult to drink all of the olive oil and lemon juice. I will try to do the flush again and hope it works better this time.
Good to hear that things are well after you had your GB removed. I have a friend who has removed her GB about 6 years ago and it seems fine. To be honest i am quite frightened about removing my GB? Especially since it takes so much longer to recover after an operation, due to CAH.
