Hi Jodie
I went through the process 3 years ago. It is a little hard to work out what was due to Dex... and what was pregnancy. I had quite a bit of swelling on my legs and feet at the end of the pregnancy which I didn't have for my first pregnancy. My blood pressure went up a little bit and the swelling was increasing so my obstetrician induced me 3 weeks early because she was unsure and a little concerned due to the Dex... I didn't notice any difference during labor it was very straight forward with regards to the dex...
I switched from Dex.. to Cortate the day after I had my daughter as Dex... goes through breast milk and Cortate apparently doesn't or filters through alot less. It was a period of 3 months slowly decreasing the Cortate and then I had a baseline cortisol test which came back within normal range so stopped the tablets. There were conflicting opinions as to whether I would need Cortate in the next 12 months should I get sick and I'd have to say in hindsite, the answer was yes. It took me a long time to get over any sickness and I would get quite emotional when I was sick (sort of an overwhelming feeling of not being able to cope with the sickness).
I would love to talk to you more if you want to have a chat, feel free to email me directly lindapowell@optusnet.com.au .
I know exactly how you feel and I can tell you that I'm completely thrilled to have my daughter and even though things are tough they will become so much easier over time.
All the very best
Linda
