re: Hospital trips

My son is now 7 and we haven't had to give him an injection since he was 3.  When it was all new to us we would give him the injection almost straight away but as we learnt more and got to know our child better we now just double his dose.  At the same time he very rarely gets sick (touch wood) and when he does it's only usually fo a day or so (does get the common cold but we don't stress dose as he doesn't get temp etc).  We also give him flu vac every year and he's on the free list for any new vaccs going round ie. nenoccochal(however it's spelt!), chicken pox etc.  He did just get chicken pox a few weeks ago but because he had the vacs it was such a mild dose with only about 20 spots and no feeling of unwell we didn't have to stress dose him.  Like everyone else has said you know your own child better than anyone and if in doubt either double dose or give the injection, it will never hurt them to be over cautious but it might if you don't.
