re: Hospital trips
Oct. 28th, 2006   12:31am

Thank you all so much for your replies.  We do a very similar thing when our child is showing the first signs of being ill and have not had too many problems.   We have recently seen a new endo who told us that with the first vomit we should check glucose levels and with the second we should present to the hospital.  We never realised that with a serious episode that our child could suffer a life changing neurological disorder.  Earlier in the year our 3 yr old went into a hypoglycemic coma and we were very close to loosing her.  We were never told how important the glucose levels are and now at the first signs we check her glucose levels and triple her dose.  We had a big learning lesson.  Please talk to your endo about the importance of glucose levels if you are not aware.

thanks again

Jodie
