Hi All
Here is an Introduction from "CAH in Adults: A Review of Medical, Surgical and Psychological Issues...Our knowledge of the experience of adults with CAH as they pass through life in only now emerging.....
Introduction: 50 years have passed since the introduction of glucorticoids for the treatment of CAH. Over this time considerable experience has developed in the pediatric context, buch much less is known abt long-term outcomes for adults with CAH. Most cohorts are still relatively young and more knowledge abt the health and well-being of the older age groups needs to be developed"!!!!!! Here, they are saying again they don't know wots' going on. I told you so, I said they haven't a clue or maybe I told my friends that? Hmm, will have to have a think abt that one.
Now, thanks to some genius (true) who's partner is up a ladder late at night I have obtained a copy of a book called, "CAH - A Parent's Guide". If you look at the Index, it is not what is there that is important but what is not there. There's nothing on menopause!! and this book was first published 09/2005.
As I have been yelling and completely irrational of late and as usual, I spoke to my psych abt "aggression". I said a long time ago I thought that menopuase for me would be like adolescence but more intense, and it has been. Those endocriminalologists forgot to test for menopause, I had to ask. Looks like it might have started in 1998, so they have made a huge mistake IMHO!
Now here's the interesting bit...psych said to go and see a GP/MD who specializes in hormones!!! Did you know such ppl existed? They also appear to be good abt working out sexual and psych problems and psych said either this person was really on the ball re psych matters and hormones + CAH, or he was a complete nutter. This person is "in the air" atm, going to speak at some conference (hope it's not at Disneyland). I said to psych did he really tell a psychiatrist he is "in the air" and we both cracked up laughing.
Given the choice between endocriminologists (and I'll still keep going to one, why I do not know) and a complete nutter, I chose the latter and will see her in abt 6 weeks. The first one who was suggested and is known and has spoken with my psych has "closed books" atm so I asked who else to go to and there is another here who specializes in hormones both male and female.
Now for me this may be a complete breakthough in HRT for menopuase. I canardly wait and no referal is necessary as is usual here to see specialists. If I don't like her, I have another to speak to when he comes back down to Earth:-) Don't you think this is a really great news flash? Could help a lot of CAH ppl too.
Hormonally Yours
