Hi All
Yes, it's happened to me. Ever since I was a little kid (say age 9) I've had skin problems and it's still going on. My guess is you might have skin problems too, one of the many deleriously happy side-effects of CAH. CAH has got the lot and you've got to be in it to win it (er.. that could be to do with lotteries).
Initially called impetigo but it doesn't stop, it never stops. I'm still having skin problems and when I asked old endo abt it, he said "I'm not a skin doctor you know!" There he goes again telling me nothing. I had to remind him that he did know a bit abt hormones though and I thought this might be something to do with CAH. Again I've had to work it out but this time I've had to have plastic surgery on my face, abt 4 times with maybe a 5th coming up. (always use plastics ppl for anything to do with yr face)
Now as Plastic Surgeons go, Michelle's not too bad and wears great jools. She's removed 3 skin lesions under general anaesthetic and one in her rooms with a local. (Just for something to do I counted 18 ppl who were involved in one procedure - no wonder the Health System's stuffed). Then they send these off to the labs to see what they are.
Firstly called "Keratin filled hair follicle" then prurigo. Yep, prurigo, you'd better look that one up in yr med dictionary - one of the causes is endocrine abnormalities...there you go - CAH again!!! These gnarled bits of skin cannot be shifted without them being excised. You will pick and pick at yr skin but they will just not go away by themselves. This type of behaviour can also be related to anxiety and if you want to go a step further = self harm. (I'm getting around to the psych bit in a while)
Michelle was away for a follow up consult and was replaced by that dreamboat Bernard who glided (or is that glid?)across the floor with his translucent skin when the stitches were removed and the lab results came back. He said that the keratin thing was a one off and wouldn't happen again....Are you sure Bernard?? Yes, he says. But this diagnosis came again. Then the next time was prurigo and despite my best efforts to get rid of it, I think it's going to have to be cut out again. (You got that one wrong Bernard!!! Go and stick yr head in a bucket of water and furthermore yr OFF the Christmas card list!!!)
So for Easter give the little ones skin care and not chocolate, well OK I'm on the kids side, give them both:-). It's true I have been skinned alive but I've always thought anaesthetics are generally a good idea. Be aware of yr skin and whilst looking at the skin products you might as well buy yrself some perfume. Love, bye, etc etc and yrs trooly rooly.
PS: Today's tip. Forget abt watching soaps and reality shows on the tele and join in that real life drama and psychological nightmare called The Stock Market. Thrills and spills all over the place and it's all abt money. Wot could be better?
PPS: Today's joke:Hoax warnings don't usually scare me, but this one is important.
If someone comes to your front door and says they are conducting a
survey and then asks you to show them your bum, DO NOT show them
your bum. This is a scam; they just want to see your bum.
I wish I'd got this yesterday. I feel so stupid and cheap.
Love xxxooo
