re: re: re: re:Convulsions - due to low blood sugar - to Angela

Hi Angela,

There are different types and causes of "convulsions", but a sterotypical example is where the person becomes unconscious, falls to the ground and their body shakes and twitches uncontrollably. Convulsions (or "fits") can last seconds, minutes, or in very bad - and rare - cases, hours. Usually only seconds or minutes though.

People with epilepsy can have convulsions - but these posts are not referring to epilepsy.

People can also "fit" or have a convulsion (become unconscious and their body jerks) if their blood sugar is low, or even more commonly, in children when they have a high temperature (called a "febrile convulsion"). Febrile convulsions are very common in children and they usually grow out of them.

Hope this helps?
