re: re: re: am i the only one to have dramas with centre link/ carers allowance?

First of all I would like to say that it is not right to compare one medical condition to another, i.e. CAH v Diabetes.   For Lisa to say that a child with CAH requires much more care than a child with Diabetes is just not right.  I have two close friends both with 6 year olds with Juvenile Diabetes.    The care, control and management of these children is so difficult, requiring monitoring on sometimes an HOURLY basis, 24/7, 365 days a year, their diet is restricted and food intake monitored constantly.   Unless your child has an extreme case of CAH which is extremely hard to control or your child is not being controlled by the right medical professionals, CAH (in general) is much much easier to manage and control on a daily basis.   I know there are exceptions and some CAH is harder to control than others, we have had our fair share of hospital visits.   I'm sorry if I sounded inconsiderate in my last post but it hit a nerve as I have experienced first hand what diabetes children go through.

As far as the Carer's allowance goes, I guess it is up to the individual as to whether they think they are entitled to this and to try and pursue it through Centrelink.  The CAH Support Group some years ago did print in their newsletter some guidelines for applying for the allowance, I'm not sure if Michelle would be able to access this.
