Has anyone experienced dilusions or psychotic symptoms from medications?
Sep. 16th, 2002   12:27am

I have twins with CAH. A boy and girl that just turned 13.
Recently some issues have arisen with my daughter that leads
me to believe she is experiencing some rare side effects from her
meds. Approximately 5 months ago their blood work showed
highly elevated numbers. The doctor added dexamethosone to
my daughters meds and increased both of their doses of
Prednisone. They both have been on Prednisone for a few years.
Recently the Dr's RN sent new labwork for us to get done at the
end of september. She told me that the Renin test was being
done wrong and that she had wrote out the test instructions for
the lab. prior labwork after the meds had been increased showed
their levels slowely dropping. I am wondering if doing the renin
test wrong somehow showed elevated numbers therefore they
are taking more meds then necessary. I called the Endo Dr. and
explained the issue with my daughters behavior and they said
they were not surprised that alot of adolescents they are seeing
have mood swings and depression. I have an appointment on
Tuesday to take her in.

Has anyone else had problems with behavior or psychotic
symptoms while taking prednisone or dexamethosone? I would
greatly appreciate any input at all. I am very worried about my
daughter and it is affecting our whole family.

Thanks - Katrina

Katrina
