re: Taking Dex in Pregnancy
Oct. 5th, 2003   4:29pm

I had 1 boy with sw/cah when I discovered that I was pregnant again. It was explained to me that I would have to take dexmethadone in case the new baby was also affected. They explained that if the baby was a girl it would help to reduce the masculination but in the case of a boy this did not make any difference I was also told that if the baby was not affected it could cause a hare lip and a cleft palate.

I had a cvs test done at 10weeks pregnant that showed the baby was a boy and that he also had sw/cah. Because I was experiecing side effects namely that I was constantly sick and dizzy(I had not had any of these during my 2 other pregnancies) they told me to stop taking the dexmethadone, but I do not know what would have happened had he been a girl.
