Hi Ian,
I am 23 years old with the SWCAH and I know how you must feel. I haven't talked to many people about our condition either, but I have never really found much of a reason to. I function normally and at most times I forget I even have the condition. I was diagnosed here in England at birth and when I was 3 1/2 years old I moved to California in America and lived there for 20 year's. I am now back in England for awile to do my studying, but for the most part things have gone quite alright for me.
What I do want to know though is do you have severe mood swings and depression ever? That seems to be my only problem I have to really deal with. I have a slight weight problem, but nothing to really panic about. I think if you just try to sometimes put things to the side you'll be fine. I feel normal and never think of myslef as a person with an illness. Over the past few years I have actually been quite lucky and have not been sick.
However I do understand what it's like to want to chat to other people who have the same condition as yourself. I haven't said much, but please write to me sometime and we can chat. Take Care and Happy New Year!
