re: severe salt waster
Mar. 5th, 2004   11:21pm
Hi Andy,  My son is a severe salt-loser too and will be 16 years old in a couple of weeks!  He took the sodium choloride solution until he was 3 years old as his sodium levels were always on the low side.  To be honest though, I am not sure it was really necessary and feel that they should have increased his fludrocortisone dose earlier from 100mcg to 150mcg as when they did finally increase it, his levels improved.  Nowadays most infants are weaned off the sodium supplements by the time they are a year and I think their medication is more finely tuned, enabling better control.
Sue
