re: personal story

Dear Ian,

Thank you very much for your story. It's hard being the slapped on the knee and called "the case of the day!" Their curiosity screws us up Psych wise that if you are looked at with something really different how can they help? or you get sick of being put on display as a trick pony. They don't get it and offer help at a shrinks that also look at you as a rarity ..."the case of the day!"  you don't fit into any of our diagnostic criteria but you have to deal with medical c***.

I think your story should been required reading for medical students in the UK and USA and the more people like you that write the more things will change and I hope CAH will then be better known  and the damage that the curiosity that doctors and students cause might be replaced with a little more sensitivity...that is to much to ask for but maybe if more write like you (not just fringe groups  : )  )   then the more common it will be know and that luster of something different would ware off.

best wishes,

Aimee
