Second Opinion

It is now 2 years since I put my first message on the board and it got to the point where I was prepared to try anything. My endo suggested I try Xenical (Orlistat) which I did try and it seemed to be working and I was losing weight at the rate of about 1- 2lbs a week. After about 3 months it didn't seem to work anymore and my weight just stayed the same, I carried on using it for almost 18 months before my GP decided that as it was not working for me and was too expensive to continue.

After this I just continued to put on weight so I joined a gym and this helped to tone me up but no weight loss. I returned to my endo and asked for a second opinion so I was referred to another doctor and also to a dietician, again I was told that the steriods - Dexamethasone, was nothing to do with my weight gain and that it was all down to me. They have tried to lower my dosage but it just made me nauseous and dizzy but I did lose weight but then they put my dosage back up again and on went the weight I had lost.

I am only on my third visit with the second doctor but again I am still being made to feel that it is all my fault. Although the dietician has been very supportive. Has anyone else had these problems and if so have they ever been resolved? Or can anyone suggest anything that I can do as I am getting to the point of giving up and just not bothering with tablets or hospital visits!!!!

Thanks

Ali
