Alternative Treatments (Non Classic CAH)
Aug. 24th, 2009   1:58am
Hello,

I have been a non treated NC CAH person and I am now in my late 30's. I decided to go get my bloods tested again to see what kind of situation my hormones are now in, and the Endo is talking about Prednisolone.

I had disastrous side effects from Dex when I took them 15 years ago (weight gain, stretch marks, swollen face after just three months), so I'm really dubious of going anywhere near a steroid again.

I am never ill, never tired, excellent blood pressure. My symptoms are mainly facial hair, few periods, PCOS and weight gain (but that is very much Cadbury's induced I feel!).

I did manage to have two beautiful children completely naturally, so I feel that either they were miracles, or my CAH isn't really that bad, but my facial hair is.

So, my question is, do I take steroids again, or would Metformin be a good alternative?
