re: 2 1/2 year old genitals question Jan. 25th, 2005 6:48am
I would first take her to the DR. and see if there is a rubbing problem with her. If this is ruled out I would then show her in some anatomy correct books that every little girl has one of these. I don't believe at she is old enough at her age to have the cognitive skills to know WHY she has one/ Maybe explain to her comparing her little toe or finger and explain to her these are parts to her body and they are needed and we would not cut them off. Toes for balance ect. I would not put too much emphasis on this issue and let it ride and see how long it lasts. Rule out if any pain occurs during bathroom time and as with all toddlers be patient with the potty training and maybe try her in some big girl underpants. (cotton) for a few days. Hope this helps Cherry
