Thank You -  That is exactly why I enjoy reading your posts so much!  I can literally feel the intesity in your words just by reading them.  I think you spoke for alot of us on this board that have made the decision that surgery is the best for our children.  I don't mind anyone giving educational information but it seems like Betsy does want it to be all about the gay/lesbian issue everytime!  This is the way I look at it My husband and I made the decision for our daughter we are a family.  When my daughter is older we will explain why we made the decision and deal with any topics as a family.  I am pretty sure my daughter will know by then anything I made a decision on was to lessen any pain or stress for her.  Let's just say for Betsy's sake it was a mistake I am sure my daughter will understand I didn't want to mutilate her!  There is a good issue for Betsy to get involved in how about newborn screening since she is so cultured in CAH.  I have a 1 year old daughter with SWCAH and I also have a 2 1/2 year old son.  My state does not test for CAH they only have 4 screenings right now.  If my son had been the child born with CAH he very well could have died or suffered greatly before he was diagnosed!  I just don't see concentrating on the INTERSEX issue when there are so many more important issues out there such as the death of a child!!!!  Let's ponder a thought here I wonder if Betsy was born and diagnosed with disease that made her thumb ambiguous? Just enormous and children had teased her and she was affected mentally and physically by it would she think it would be okay to make her thumb smaller???
Dana
