U of Mich
Feb. 10th, 2005   2:22pm

I bet that the U of Mich which is the darling of the ISNA from how that women Alice goes on would have the same amount of surgeries stats. Nobody from the U of Mich lied to my parents, the reasons the surgery was done was to fit in socially and to have the opportunity to have children. My dad wasn't kept in the dark and he had the whole U of Mich MEDICAL library for his own research. None of this is easy and yes, I survived preschool with my ambiguous genitals and I thought it was fine but sooner or later something had to be done. This isn't the 19th century and we have rights to fit in w/ today's society even though it may be a bumpy road @ times. All the genital exams screwed me up psychologically but the surgery given the technology and wealth of knowledge does make sense when it comes to CAH but as far as other conditions I don't agree. Maybe that doctor was trying to protect his patients privacy? I don't know or maybe I have these feeling because I was able to wait until five before anything was done.  I know that Dr. CORAN wasn't a villain but really wanted my life to be better and those students would be shocked that as a child/teenager that I planned my suicide after being subjected to all their touching and poking--- the medical notes went on that I was a happy out going bubbly individual ----yeah, children are like that after genital exams, they needed to write that for their own piece of mind as I felt non human and just a scientific tool. I would hate to see progress in the treatment of CAH come to a standstill or go back to the 19th century because then everything that went through would count for nothing. As is I never got paid for being there exam doll, hummm that is an expensive school and lets see, I saw the main endo every once in awhile alone so that was actually good FOR ME not THEM usually it was my job to entertain at least two residents at a time so going to the U of Mich twice a year from age three to age 18 Hummm two residents times ???? what 500.00 or 1,000 dollars a view, touch or poke hummm or when it was my job to be the display modle for the groups of residents that came in...REALLY  it would of been nice to get a 100.00/ head for all those people that crowed into the room. There was so many of them that there wasn't any room to move. I would of liked to of had a cut of some of it even a trick pony got a carrot.  I wonder if Dr. Bacon is still there? Theraphy was great...it just show how everything sucked and how having a good attitude and wanting to please will get you taken advantaged of.

Sincerely,

Aimee
