The respected folks that you are referring to as being off there rockers are people who are using the term intersex obviously because they are following the lead of medical professionals that started this intersex word many years ago. NOW that they know how adamant we are in changing this term that CAH is umbrellaed under maybe we can move forward. Terminology is just that.....calling a CAh child intersex is like calling lesbians .....queers/ dikes/freaks/sicko's/ perverts or any other disgusting name to group ALL homosexual people together. Does it make it right? NO But how do you change it? By correcting people who continue to use the negative terms rather than the CORRECT or wish to be called term. PREPOSAL to stop having surgery on our children.........OUR children are not bargaining chips they are our life /soul and loves of our life. We do not use our children for pawns for the media/articles/causes/examples ect. To do so would make us as EVIL as the people that do this to our children. We are only trying to protect our childrens integrity and give them a healthy self esteem that they can use in an already distorted world of CAH. It is a medical condition of the adrenal glands. BOTTOM LINE...not the mind or the genitals for sexual assignment. UNTIL YOU become a parent and know the depth of love one has with there child will you begin to understand our views on this subject. Having CAH does not mean you have more knowledge of the illness and that WHAT WORKED OR WORKS for YOU may not be the path we CHOOSE for our child. THATS RIGHT ......... WE CHOOSE! Just as we choose to let them wear what jacket or sweater to wear based on the temperature........Why? To protect them from a cold or elements of BAD weather. SAME with any other decision we make for our minor children. It is our job our role our RIGHT. Do we make mistakes Yes we do ...but not intentionally. You continue to insinuate that we make the choices we make to purposely to bring pain anguish or sexual dysfunction to our children. YES.. This is why we lay beside our children when they are in intensive care on life support from adrenal crisis. We can't wait to do THAT surgery....DAMN if they die I won't be able tohave it done! DANG! I just can't wait till the doctor gets in there and performs that surgery so my little Sally/Susie/Mary will be in pain. Maybe we should hold a pain party with hats and balloons. MY GOD what do you take us for? We are not beasts wanting to as you call it MUTILATE our children. THats another word that is DEFINITELY overused and wrongly thrown out there for CAH people to fear. What the world needs is one big class on compassion and sensitivity to others needs. Just one time imagine the parents of these children and the pain we go through in making the life long decision to make there life BETTER and PAINLESS. Regardless of what has happend to others and WHY surgery was performed........ I can say with 99 percent acknowledgement that the surgery is done for health reasons. NO PARENT wants there child in any pain or risks of anesthetics to our cah child. We cry ..we pray...we research.... we protect ...we nurture ... and we would trade places with our child at any moment to have to NOT make a decsion on this........ we listen to our Drs. to tell us what is needed for our children to function properly. WE WANT OUR CHILDREN TO HAVE THE BEST LIFE CAN OFFER. So with this said I am going to PRAY that somehow all the negatives stop and we can somehow agee to disagree and move forward with a cure for CAH and positive and logical terminology for this disorder of the adrenal glands and parents hearts!
