I also agree with you that the term "intersex" is one that was originally coined by the medical profession, not advocacy groups. At the same time, used in a medical settting, I don't think it necessarily means what everyone assumes it means which is that someone who is intersexed is "part male part female" or is confused about gender. So, my question is....why capitalize on people's (including the media's) misconceptions about this word in order to bolster an argument about genital surgery?  I know you believe your arguments against surgery to be valid ones, so why not let the facts speak for themselves? Why muddy the waters by bringing the intersex debate into the equation?
