With respect Anita and each is a case by case basis but it is my take that they are only asking for think about counseling first before just wielding the knife on someone at a young age. Nobody is saying no to surgery but rather lets ask the person that owns the body : P

What an assumption and who is to judge who will like what in someone else's bedroom?

I've told men about CAH and not just the ones I've wanted to be with sexually and the response and enlarged clitorises has been 'Wow!, Yo ______(insert name)  here she'd be bigger than you bro! Yeah dude she would be Cool! and she would be like driving a Cadillac.....think of the Orgasms!" Where are your friends Aimee? and ummm you like that? : ) then I go on to tell them about how the clitoris can advance to being able to void through it and how this evolves from the adrenal gland and lack of cortisol allowing the androgens to form external genitals where it isn't always possible to tell the babies gender and they go really? No S*** and after I go on about the adrenal crisis part it's gezzzz that's hard and then they tell me about a favorite relative that has whatever condition one even mentioned a favorite relative that has this or that and they've told me about relatives that have genital diversity also. Trying to focus just on the ones that are happy what does that show? I respect ones that are happy and heck I needed surgery to because that period wasn't going through what I had but to only focus on one part being one way or the other is illogical and a break in the system. Well at least the house slaves are happy nevermind the field ones. Or the husband that says I only hit her every once in awhile what's so bad about that?

I have a buddy guy friend  without CAH who has a little willy the size of an enlarged clitoris and he has women fightening over who is going to get to keep him in the end but just the beginning to marry him. If he was born just a couple of years earlier doctors would of surgically altered him into a girl with the assumption that this is what we feel about it, this is what some feel so they all must feel that way. Ask first cut later. You feel bad so I'm going to kick the next person in the head that looks like you to and don't even ask them? Blah!!!!! look I'm not an advocate and in the end whatever the parents say goes. Even the hospital where I was at goes

Que? someone else is ashamed of their body so surgically so I have to get my body system sucked into that?

When I was three the psych doctors and the urology dept saw that I could of waited a couple of years and five was good for me and three might of been better or eight for someone else and I'm writing here about those of us born prader five.

Kids connect the dots about this because of this because of all the genital exams to see how the surgery is coming along plus showing the residents but many don't have that done and it's here is your pill to help your adrenal gland and that's all folks. You make assumtions Anita and I respect you trying to understand but one of the biggest questions parents have and caresfoundation addresses this is how to go about telling the child about what was done and no I don't think pictures are the best thing either.

What's with the unhappy lesbian stuff? why the assumption that only lesbians would want to keep their super sized clitoris? smile Someone's husband might think he hit the mother load of all clitorises. I respect Tina's point but this isn't unhappy lesbains all going on about this : ) heck even one Endocrine consensus mentioned that maybe it is a good idea to suggest letting patients decide and each case is different about their own body.

I wasn't ashamed of how I was born and I really must make your skin crawl. I've told men how I was born and as one stated "that's complex." It didn't much to my surprise make me any lesser in their eyes unlike women who I get the feeing of being second rate around. Plus, being that I'm older and the scars from the "clitoris rip ota me"  :P  people will show me scars from motor cycle accidents, boating accidents, other medical surgeries.

I would love a tummy tuck and was mortifield when the tech to pictures of that area field for the radiation for documentation so I can understand how people are ashamed of parts of their bodies but nobody has taken it upon themselves to give me a tummy tuck without telling me  : ) as much as I'd really like that and men that have asked men to marry them take me for what I am flabby tummy too. Maybe someday when I'm mature enough then marriage will be a great idea.

If this is about an indivuals self -esteem them maybe talking about it first before the surgeon steps into the picture? Surgeons aren't evil...most can't dance but they are just following the recommended theories of others.

peace-- everyone counts.

Aimee
