Dear Karen,

Thank you for your posts and it's my concern about that Late Onset CAH  happens in 1 out of 100 people but yet nobody has heard of it? and that gets me motivated to at the least get the info from cares into the hands of the medical people that can make a difference. I was getting coco this morning and the sales girl had tons of excessive hair. I'm thinking LOCAH but nobody knows out there about the condition to help her. I had for awhile excessive hair as a young adult and it didn't help me feel all that wonderful about myself. I was affectionately called bear by the guys and the guys that tried to tease me in a mean way? the other guys the ones that didn't call me anything and even the ones that called me "bear" would beat the C### out of the ones that teased in a mean way. The girls in the locker room would ask and just alarmed by it all "Aimee, why do you have all that hair?" i could only reply and why are you looking and then they would all laugh in general at being nervous to say it and the fact that their schoolmate well had lots of hair, the teasing good natured or bad did hurt for a long time. I went to the best up to date hospital for CAH and the blood work was great butthe early 80's was still a learning period and all they could do was BS oh the hair isn't that bad. It was a difficult time but the hair did go away or lessen as I got older. The really bad acne went away when I was 16 and right on so to speak to the girl that used to tease the daylights out of me about mine - Nope I never teased her when she got acne even though I has every opportunity too  and I do think that the hair I have now has more to do with my ethnic background than androgens from CAH.

Thank you for the PTSD info it's a neat subject for me and I'm forever fasinated by the flight or fight response in CAH and I really believe that helps me in dealing with the cancer. I also find interesting the how and why someone might find some experiences stressful and not others? I'd like to go into more detail on that later : )

I'm with you ....thank you Danny for this Board !

Aimee
