Dana (who normally seems upset with Betsy for linking CAH with homosexuality) is asking Betsy if being non-compliant with medication has something to do with her sexual orientation. And, Betsy (who normally appears to believe that there IS a link) is saying "No way!" So, they each seem to be taking the opposite stands that they normally take.
Actually, I think Dana's question is a logical one....which is essentially, "could an overabundance of male hormones affect sexual orientation?" However, what I find bizarre is that the conversation is focussing on non-compliance with Florinef, rather than non-compliance with hydrocortisone (or prednisone or dexamethasone). Florinef has nothing to do with the over-production of male hormones. However, hydrocortisone, prednisone, and dexamethasone do!
No, Betsy, I am not suggesting that you are non-compliant with your prednisone. However, to support your position that there may be a link between CAH and sexual orientation, I would have expected that your answer would have been, "Yes!" rather than "No!" Not because you are non-compliant now, but because you were non-compliant during a time when you had no choice about it....in the womb!
And, Dana, if you are asking if the overproduction of male hormones (because of non-compliance with meds) might affect sexual orientation (even if you are just playing devil's advocate), then it shouldn't be that big of a stretch to understand why researchers wonder the same thing...about the overproduction of male hormones during fetal development. No, I am not saying that there is a link. I am sure it will be difficult to prove one way or the other. But, I can certainly understand why this question persists...in my opinion, it's a completely logical thing to wonder about. Just as I thought your question to Betsy was a logical one.
So.....interesting thread, Betsy and Dana! But, I just find it really weird that you are both still disagreeing with each other, though now from the other's "usual" viewpoint!
