Will the self-medicating come down like a house of cards one day? It might but it's a risk I am willing to take and one I chose for myself. Since no one really knows the long term (meaning lifetime) effects of CAH, who knows...maybe one day it will change the protocol for other adults. There are enough endos I've talked to that know what I am doing and while each shakes their head in disapproval, they admit they can't argue with what they see and how healthy I am.

This is from page 19 of Betsy's post!  The point I always try to make to Betsy about surgery is basically like the point she made out self medicating.  She says since no one really knows the long term effects of CAH, who knows... maybe one day it will change the protocol.  Well my point is since they have changed alot of the surgery techniques since she had her surgery and we don't know the long term effects how can she comment on it.  It seems alot of Betsy's reasons for self medicating had alot to do with the way it was affecting her appearance and she didn't like it.  So how can she say our daughters will be okay with the way their genital will appear after 15 to 16 years of growth!
