Return to Page 7Post reply re: re: re: ABOVE POST ISNA adrenal crisis Jun. 10th, 2005 12:15pm
With all due respect Aimee, the purpose of isna is not to educate people about all the different aspects of CAH or any of the other conditions on its website. The purpose of the organization is soley to address the surgery issue. The isna mission statement states this very clearly. So, I dont' think it's really fair to criticize it for failing to mention adrenal crisis or any of the other medical problems that can go along with CAH,when that was never part of its stated purpose, to begin with. It's like walking into a modern art museum and complaining that there are no good pictures of George Washington on horseback. Or going to a chinese restaurant and wondering why you can't get steak and a baked potato. They are not going to deliver on something that was never on the program to begin with. And, in all fairness (whether you agree with their mission statement or not) why should they? Yes, it would be fair to go into the modern art museum and complain that their jackson pollock installation is terrible. Just like it would be fair for you to tell isna that, as someone who had genital surgery as a child, you completely defend the parents right to make that choice for the child. Therefore you think their position on surgery is misguided (if that is how you feel.)
