re: strong ; harsh opinions

I think some CAH people do need a real place to vent. Sometimes there is a lot of anger built up and apart from the tangible factors like treatment and  frequent exposure to tests, as well as, the potential for frequent life threatening illness events, there is the psychological side which is often not addressed.

Things like how we look (moon faces, red faces, overweight, stretch marks, hirsutism, being tallest then being shortest etc), coping in the teen years with differences, irregular/heavy periods,  infertility,  people pointing and whispering - "is that person a male or female", feeling unfeminine, deep voices.........everything really related to CAH.

There have been times, when I must admit I feel there is a lot of perhaps false positivism expressed, as to outcomes for this generation of CAH children and it does get to you, as one who has travelled the path. What often comes across is the feeling that people justify everything based on "well it won't be like that for my child" because treatment is better now etc etc..  Only time will tell.

Let's hope & pray that is the case but this can be a cruel disorder and especially for Classical CAH people the effects can be relentless.
