re: does virilization limit positions?
Aug. 8th, 2006   11:22pm

It was me talking about my granddaughter when the post made was I hope she meets a man who will accept her as she is! If no one can read between the lines I feel you MAY be  wondering WHY I chose the surgery for her rather than WAIT for her to make the decision . It was indeed a heartwrenching and painful decision to HAVE to make a choice such as this ......I prayed to God and her mother to help me with my choice. I listened to WHAT information I was given and based on her condition and health and my fear of her being judged by her peers and relationships...... I made the best possible choice I could for her. Do I wonder??? YES! Will I second guess my choice........ NO! My role in life is to give this child the best life possible and let her be  who she wants to be . THATS IT! Nothing more nothing less! I did not think this surgery issue could be debated anymore than it already has. I don't focus on the should have /could have/ would have. I don't have that luxury ..... I am 56 years old raising my five year old Granddaughter who's mother passed away with cancer when she was 5 months old. I nearly lost Mitzi when she was thirteen months and she  was in intensive care for weeks/ months with adrenal crisis and compartment syndrome and almost lost her right leg.... AGAIN I relied on God to give me the answer and the ability to make the decision on keeping her leg or amputation. He led me on the right path and with plastic surgeries and skin grafts and physical therapy and MANY castings she has the use of her leg today.   I have a 36 year old daughter and 34 year old son who lost there Father when they were just infants (car accident)and was a single parent for many years........I have buried my Mother at 63 and my Father and my only sibling (sister) at age 56. I honestly don't have the desire or the time or the foritude to second guess ANY aspect of my life. I take it as it comes and Thank the Good Lord for the blessings I have in my life. Life is too short to  worry about what OTHER people are doing with there life. Life is ABOUT CHOICE and making the best out of what comes your way. Too ponder the question of the position one will have to use during sexual contact is WAAAAAY to much of a personal thing to be worrying about at this stage of a childs life. (unless you are collecting info on making some medical decision) I am TOO busy getting mine to eat the right food , watch the right TV programs/excell at school emotionally and scholastically/ dentists/  dance/ gymnastics / social skills . Learning to handle life one day at a time........ what ever is on her plate. The latest thing being the scars on her leg from the surgeries. Thank God these are scars on the outside and I tell her they saved her leg so she can run and jump and do all the things she is doing. Will she have COMPLETE use of her leg and function 100 per cent. Only God knows and I will never question his power of giving her what he has in any part of her life . She is my gift and my CAUSE to make her be all that she can be with any and all obstacles! Don't second guess a persons reasons for the choices they make concerning a childs health as we ALL love our children the same and we all do what we think is best for them in the long run. I hope you understand my taking a strong stance on my CHOICE to make my daughter healthy and well.

 Sincerely

Cherry Lane
