re: Surgery and worries
Aug. 18th, 2006   12:35am

Sexual desire and wanting to express it are two different things! When I had endometriosis at 30 I certainly had sexual desire...BUT the pain of having sex outweighed the desire and until I had my hysterectomy at 31 and had sex pain free did I realize the difference. It is hard to try and please your partner when you are in pain ......then because you can't perform the way you would like........ you feel guilt and then eventually you find OTHER tactics to keep from HAVING to inflict pain on yourself to feel like a woman and make your spouse feel loved. It is  the same way with my gastric bypass...... I still WANT lots of food but I KNOW I will get sick when I eat it. So you avoid eating the way you use too and teach yourself how to eat so you won't experience pain or sickness. PATIENCE will HELP but until SHE is READY to change the pattern she is in now she will experience discomfort...physically and emotionally and as her spouse you will experience the pain of having to watch her suffer. Talk with someone...... Doctor, clergy, counseling and put it all on the table....form a plan and follow through. Good luck and I hope this makes sense!
