re: re: advice on changing from pred and hydro to dex
Mar. 12th, 2007   6:40am
To Wisconsin Mom: My mood is always affected when my doses are off (although I have more problems when I'm on too little instead of too much like M1). If I'm on slightly too little, I get very lethargic and have trouble motivating myself to do anything. If I'm on way too little, I get severely depressed and can't do anything but sit on the couch and cry. Make sure his 17OH levels are okay; he might not need the Lexapro et al. (Not to say that for sure though, my husband has been on Zoloft for 5 years now and it's been an amazing transformation for him.)

To Lisa B: There's no right or wrong medication. I went from cortef to predisone to dexamethasone back to cortef trying to find what worked best for me. You just have to be willing to try different things and be attentive to what changes when you change meds. The cortef is working best for me right now, by the way; the three times a day schedule is a pain, but it has much finer dosage increments than either pred or dex, so I can take less without getting the aforementioned nasty depression.
