I need some advice.
Mar. 28th, 2007   6:13pm

I rarely post messages here on the cah message board... I think the last time was when my daughter was 3 months, She is now almost seven. But I do read things on this sight often. I chose to leave the decision of surgery up to my daughter. I am a lesbian, and my daughter has salt wasting cah. For me it is very important for my daughter to be proud of who she is and who she wants to be. I am very proud of who I am, and therefore what the same for my daughter.  I have been very up front with her about her body and she is amazingly smart for her age. She is in no way ashamed that she is different, and frankly doesn't care about that at least for now. Recently she has told me  " Mom in the morning sometimes my private sticks up and it bothers me."  She now is insisting that we go see the doctor and get her surgery.  I am happy that she is making her own decisions for her body... my problem is that her being only six and having no idea what those parts are for, and what the risks of surgery are, how can she make an informed decision on that matter? One of my fears about the surgery is loss of  feeling.  Please help!! I believe its her decision but when should I let it be hers?

Thank you,

JM
