re: Had test done on my 6wk baby boy, after positive CAH, whats next? May. 23rd, 2007 2:26pm
Hi Jessica,
CARES is here to support parents like you and I encourage you to give us a call. Has your son had the second round of testing, or just the first testing that's done before he left the hospital?
You should be seeing the Endo as soon as possible. They will do a full exam as well as some bloodwork and will place the baby on medication.
CAH is a disorder where the adrenal glands don't work properly. In the most severe form of CAH, the adrenal glands can't produce the hormones cortisol and aldosterone. This form is life-threatening but can be treated with medication. It's really really important that you get in to see the Endo right away.
Again, please give us a call (toll free) 866-227-3737. We're here to help.
Hope to talk to you soon,
Erin
