re: re: Three month old girl with CAH
Jun. 11th, 2007   8:02pm

Hi Erin,

Our daughter is 6 weeks old and was diagnosed with CAH at birth.  She also had bloody stool- so bad at one point that she was just passing blood.  When we called in a panic, both her pediatrician and endo said it didn't have anything to do with her Cortef or Florinef.  We went to the emergency room, and after being transferred to another hospital and being under the care of a number of specialitsts, the gastroenterologists did a biopsy and it came back that she has a milk allergy.  50% of children who have a milk allergy are also allergic to soy, so if you are nursing try to cut that out of your diet (you'll end up eating a lot of fruits and vegetables) and if you are using formula, try Similac Alimentum.  Our daughter also had/has mucussy stool, but is a very happy and content girl both before the allergy was diagnosed and after.  Best of luck at your appointment with the GI doc.
