re: Surgery- The Long Story
Nov. 18th, 2007   3:47pm

I may be misunderstanding some of the posts on here about surgery but are you reffering mainly to the "cosmetic" type, ie to make the genitals look "normal"? I am confused because  as the mother of a baby girl with CAH I have been told that my daughter needs surgery to become sexually active at all(her vagina is inside her and there is some fusion). So surely for this the surgery has to happen?

I understand that surgery on girls is controversial but am I right in thinking that this controversy is only about the changing of the genitals externally? Although having a vainal opening visible will obviously change the appearance too. I am genuinely confused, not trying to argue one way or another.

Just a question
