"Think about these suburban parents ..they want things fixed and CAH with someone born like me isn't what they want. "
Aimee for you to paint such a broad stroke is very unfair. What you went through is horrible and I am sure I havent heard half of it. But please don't think all "suburban" parents don't want their children because they are different. My daughter had surgery when she was 11 months old. Yes they checked her surgery site. Yes at 6 weeks they looked at her again. When I asked the urologist who did her surgery when they needed to see her he said that they did a lot of surveys and spoke with a lot of patients and found that the thing they hated the most were the checkup and constant appointments. So he said when she gets close to hitting puberty I should make an appointment and he would check that all is alright. And yes the endo looks at her at each appointment. But she is 16 months old. When she hits 2 I will limit the look sees. And no the students will not be looking at her. I will protect my child and not let her go on display for anyone. Even thought I am a "suburban" mom I do love my child and would do anything and everything to protect her.
