re: guilt
Feb. 12th, 2008   6:22pm

Hi my youngest daughter with the sever form of CAH had a vainalplasty when she was 15 months old and as far as we know it worked but she is only 9 yrs old now and will require another operation, we know that she can have babies but only through a c-section but the main thing is she can conceive, every child with CAH is different both my daughters are sever but only one required surgery, she was to young to remember thank god, but you should feel no guilt, you did not ask for all this to happen to you daughter she was created this way for a reason and no im not religous,  but i do think things happen for a reason, your child will come out of this with a sense of self and thats something more and more uncommon these days in kids whom have to learn to deal with things that other kids dont.

Has the surgery left her infertile or disfigured, if so i can understand your pain and reason for guilt, that would be a hard road to travel iv thought a lot about it all i can say is love her and love her well because that is what will get you both through the unfair things in life.

Barbar
