The fairly generic answer of "I don't make certain steroids so I have to take replacement tablets" was always enough when I was a child to make people think they had been given an answer whilst not really giving out any information! Any further push for information could just be dealt with by "doesn't normally make any difference, unless I'm badly injured, which is why I wear the MedicAlert". Again, a concise answer that satisfies people but doesn't actually tell them anything!
