This is THEIR business to bring up as needed or not and when they stated it's just a braclet was perfect but if you share the possibility of adrenal crisis with the parents of the child of the sleep over then that is another story.
If you want to be real then instead of saying "her tummy doesn't work properly" why not say or even better let her say "my adrenal gland doesn't work properly"?
You didn't strke a cord as I've lived with CAH for 37 years and no it isn't a little secret one doesn't have to share why WITH everyone if they don't want to. A little personal space and allowed to be a kid or a teen is what I was bringing up.
Yeah those surgeries ......infections yeah and while under we slice and dice the outside. Apples and oranges.
This is something that you do know but I'll bring it up anyway that 11 year olds - her friends are internet savey and can get all the info on CAH they need. You are in Australia right? A teen/tween mag got a hold of a girl w/ CAH from the States and sensationalized what the condition is but they told her they wouldn't do that.
"It's just a braclet" to their friends is a great answer as it makes CAH part of everyday life. The only people that need to know what the braclet is for are medical people.
