Dear Anon,
All this really depends on your child's doctor preference. Your child will find the way to deal.
This exam wasn't helpful for me and yes tramatizing which seems to be no big deal that we are tramatized but you have to do what you think is best.
I think you are a good Mommy.
No as Sarah wrote a doctor will not intentionally hurt your kid.
Hi Sarah
They do things for their own curiosity about CAH. "It's going to be curious to see how that medication dose changes the results" for example.
They get excited in a medical way and no sometimes these things aren't necessary for us. I had tell me that things are done for the medical curiosity of what would or wouldn't happen. Not only do I have 11 beta Simple Virilizing CAH but I also have hashimoto's thyroiditis, celiac sprue, and had adendocervical carcinoma. Medicine is based on the curiosity of what may or may not work for each individual patient. Doctors are real with me and have told me about tests that are done for their own curiosity- they aslo told me this later after they decided not to do said test and they will also go find co- workers or students when people come in with things like CAH that they've never seen.
Are some tests unnessary yep.
You seem so detached from all this AND different if it was you.
Where the issue is that all of this is created by man meaning not just testing like they do at birth.
Just because people with other conditions go through things doesn't make it right either.
I understand that people with this defect are supposedto keep their mouths shut and I've pushed the social norm by speaking out. I do know my place.
Respectfully,
in the shadow of societal expectations
