re: re: Mom never told me about surgery. Has this happened to anyone else? Mar. 14th, 2008 3:46pm
Hi Talia's mom
I hope your daughter surgery went well. Trust me, you made the right desicion to get it while she's young. I remember my taking me to get checked out "down there" when i was about 11. I didn't have my period yet & i had a strange doctor poking around down there. My mom never told anything about the appoinment ahead of time to prepare. She just told we were going to the dr. so i figure i was just going to my endo. Then when we got there i knew it wasn't my endo & i was very suspicious. The next thing i know i'm naked with a strange male dr. i 've never met poking around down there. i was soooo embarrassed & horrified. I didn't know why then, but now i know it was a post surgery check to make sure everytihng was OK down there. I think my mom should have told me before that appoinment. & prepared me for what was going happen. I would have understood if she would have just explained it simply to me. She could have went into more detail after i got my period or entered high school. Whenever you think your daughter is mentally ready just tell her in simple terms. You can even have her endo help you out. when shes a little older you can go into more detail if you like. I sure it will be tough but its better she it hears it from you, some she loves, then some strange dr.
