Been there, learnt that lesson...

Hi Megan,

I've been in that situation once, it's the one time I've had an adrenal crisis, and I've no intention of going back there again! I was about your age at the time. I got my shot the following morning when it was clear I was in trouble, and was right as rain within about 20 minutes. Since then I've never drunk much in one go, although I still happily drink socially. With alcohol you've got the toxic and dehydrating effects to contend with - as far as a socially acceptable drug of abuse goes, it's pretty damaging!

Not having taken your meds will definitely not have helped your cause, so I'd avoid doing that again. As with everyone, it's just a question of finding your limit, and staying on the safe side of it - just remember that for us, stepping over that limit is potentially more risky than many other people. This isn't a new topic, and I think there have been at least a couple of other threads on this before (if you go to the Archive button near the top right, you can search past ones that are older than the 30pages or so you can click through), and many people have no issues, so there's always the question of what IS your CAH and what isn't.

I'm not sure how things work in whatever country you're in regarding patient confidentiality, but you could always find out if you can request your doctor not speak to your parents (read about minor's rights too since you're 16!).

Bottom line is, if you drink responsibly, then as far as I know, and as far as I've experienced to date in my life, CAH shouldn't cause you any issues with having a socialable drink.

Hope that's of some help!

Regards

Rick
