White Matter Developing Because of Steroid Use May. 28th, 2008 7:51am
I recently had a CT scan for chronic headaches that I was having. It turned out to be an issue with my medication which we adjusted. But, they also found white matter developing in my frontal lobe. Not a normal finding for a 32 yr old female. They had asked if I had any head trauma in the past. There was none that I could remember. They sent me to a neurologist who diagnosed the cause from chronic use of steroids. This is kind of a scary finding since I have to basically stay on this medication for the rest of my life. White matter in the frontal lobe causes memory loss and impaired cognitive function which I am beginning to experience. Does anyone have any knowledge about this? I did try to look it up. There was some information but not a lot.
