re: teenage girls with cah Mar. 20th, 2006 11:53am
My daughter's doctor used to get on my all the time because they thought she was too little. They acted like I wasn't feeding her! Just before she went to kindergarten she picked up weight rapidly and then they complained she was too big! My point is, don't try to give extra food/treats to help her gain weight. I think that's what we did. Those calories seem to have store up and showed up all at the same time. Too much cortisone will cause you to gain weight also, and I think a lot of hers had to do with that. She never was able to lose that weight, but once they got her levels regulated, she maintained her weight long enough to grow into it. She had one more episode during puberty when her levels got extremely out of whack and she gained more weight. We're adjusting her meds once again, and I hope this helps. She's now a teenager and there's enough issues to deal with besides weight. What I'm trying to say is, as long as her levels are okay, don't worry about it.
