thanks for your offering. We need to support each other. Did anyone see the NY Times Magazine article about 1-2 mos ago? I am too busy but I wish I could contact Cheryl Chase and tell her the other side of the story. She would have the parents' right to choose outlawed if she could. I understand why she and people in the "activist camp" are upset, but then the NY Times presents her side to be hip and get readers interested in the "controversy," but they don't present the other side of the story- that surgery has improved greatly- the outcome is VERY different than it was for Chase's generation (and Chase doesnt even have CAH), the article barely gave any mention to that, and b, girls w SWCAH are raised in a whole society too, they have issues with growth and illness, and some of them now older are glad they had surgery when younger.... etc... you know.
We chose surgery at 6 mos, and I drilled the Drs and knew exactly what was going on, I did my part, I had my reasons to choose, and a small child can't make an informed decision. I can't believe Cheryl Chase would make any progress on her goal of taking away the choice of parents for surgery. I hope she and her agency and the NY Times got some response like this and some criticism. I wish I would have done more to respond promptly to that article.
