Wow, what is happening with you is exactly what I am afraid of for my daughter. She is a senior in high school and has terrible fatigue now, just barely makes it through the day. I am very concerned about how she will be able to handle college next year. Her 17ohp was above 200, so she had a stim test, but her 17ohp only went up into the carrier range. So of course no endo wants to treat her or take her symptoms seriously. Like you, she has no indication of PCOS.

(Sorry if you've heard this story before) I did convince her allergist to try her on prednisone and she is now taking 2 mgs/day. It did bring her testosterone down into the normal range for the first time. But like you she has also had an increase in sinus infections, and we are feeling uncomfortable treating her without an accurate diagnosis. I'm thinking about getting genetic testing done, just so we can know for sure, because I don't want to be treating her with steroids if she doesn't need it. Sorry, this isn't much help for you, except to say, you are not alone! Please let me know what the endo says.

I have 2 theories myself: that there are symptomatic carriers that need to be treated, and that 2 mgs of pred is enough to have a suppressive effect, but not enough to allow the body to fight off an infection.

Kat
