Got actual test results from my son's acth stim test- very confused- please help!!!!
Apr. 3rd, 2007   8:42pm
I posted in an earlier post that my son was diagnosed last August with CAH. There was little explanation except that they said his cortisol levels were low after the stim test. They put him on Cortef 3x per day, told us to get a medic alert bracelet and gave us a crisis kit for home. After much investigation and talking to the CARES foundation, I was informed to get his lab results. I got them today and I am very confused. There is NO mention of 17 OHP, just cortisol.

Here are the results:

baseline cortisol level : 4.0 mcg/dl
cort. at + 30 min. cortrosyn: 9.7 mcg/dl
cort. at 6+60 min.: 7.2 mcg/dl

From what I am reading from some of these posts is that CAH can't be diagnosed without 17 OHP levels.

Please help me understand all of this. I hope my child is not on meds for nothing.

Thank you for any input!!!!

Lora-Joy
