Well the verdict was no 21-hydroxylase deficiency. However, theres still the issue of excess DHEA-S. It's pretty elevated, although testosterone is on the high end of normal, but not really outside of "normal" ranges. That would seem to indicate SOMETHING is telling the adrenals to produce more androgen since that's where DHEA-S comes from. The doc decided to do Yasmin and Spiro and see what we get. I don't know that those are going to take care of the tiredness, mood swings, etc, but it should help with the facial hair and acne. The other puzzling thing was the slightly elevated 17-ohp on baseline. It didn't rise that much after the ACTH injection, but it was slightly higher than "normal" on baseline. I'm hoping I can get my old endo in Atlanta to take a look at my test results and give us an opinion on it, since the endo my MD has been talking to isn't putting all the pieces together. I still think it's odd that I felt way better after the ACTH injection than I have in years, and the menstrual cramps I was having that morning stopped about fifteen minutes after the ACTH and didn't return for the rest of my period.
