I've heard about the risk of facial hair but seriously - death? I do not think that they would sell something for a purely cosmetic problem (although a pretty distressing one!), over the counter that could cause death!
My hair is thin. A couple of years ago, I started taking Rogaine for women, and at the same time, my gyno told me to take birth control pills for a while because I was having some "abnormal" bleeding - my periods were lasting about 10 days. I was probably perimenopausal then. At that time, I thought my hair started falling out less. I stayed on the birth control pills for a couple of years, and now I;m taking hormone replacement - estrogen and prometrium - and am probably in menopause because I'm 53. So I've never been totally sure if it was the hormones or the Rogaine but I think my hair loss has slowed down - I think I have about as much hair as I did when I started both - so I haven't stopped doing either one.
I tried Rogaine for men once and I started getting some hair kind of growing towards my eyebrows so I went back to Rogaine for women.
Try the Rogaine! The sooner you try it the better because it works to keep the hair you have. I think the worst thing is that you'll be out the money if it doesn't work and if you get more facial hair, stop taking it. But it won't kill you!!
