re: what drugs are used to treat LOCAH besides steriods
May. 17th, 2007   9:56pm
Proscar (Finesteride) is used in men to treat prostate enlargement or cancer.

It is a 5-alpha-reductase blocker- 5AR is the enzyme that converts testosterone into DHT. DHT is a 10x stronger androgen than testosterone and the cause of male baldness (and prostate troubles)

Taking Finesteride doesn't actually lower your testosterone, in fact your T-levels may rise because the testosterone starts to accumulate.

It's not recommended for any woman who might become pregnant, because if you do and your baby is a boy, he will be born with a hypospadia (half his penis missing) No one knows what would happen to a baby girl.
