Hi again mjak,
I just went back and read some of your earlier postings from April and you were saying that your doctor didn't want to prescribe steroids because of your weight. I expressed my thoughts in some responses to those posts and realise that the endo has all the information and I don't.......
...however let me say that I think to some degree she is playing with fire! I think if a diagnosis shows that you need steroids then YOU NEED STEROIDS because your life is at risk otherwise. You could succumb to an Adrenal Crisis if you got sick or had an accident.
As I alluded to in a previous post your current weight should not be the reason for not prescribing if the medication is warranted. What do others think about this? Am I wrong? Your weight issues may resolve to some degree when the underlying problem is dealt with. It doesn't happen often, but some LOCAH people have actually experienced weight loss once starting on steroids and they reach an equilibrium with their general health.
People with Addisons Disease more often lose tons of weight in the time before they are diagnosed then come up to a better weight once they commence steroids.
Your symptoms overall point more to LOCAH but it's a mystery why your levels of 17-ohp and 17-ohpreg were not elevated (altho' only a stim test will expose the real state). However the way I view it is what's a bit of hair and weight if you are actually adrenally insufficient? That's more important to deal with initially, as it's potentially life threatening....and let me tell you it feels dreadful too!
